CBD is most commonly used to help alleviate pain, feelings of anxiety, and as a sleep aid. However, many people also enjoy using CBD to improve focus, general mood, and their overall feeling of wellbeing.

Whatever you use CBD for in your daily life, once you’ve found your optimal dosage, you may wish to experiment with different dosing methods, to help you get the most out of your CBD.

In this article, we’re going to take a closer look at microdosing, including:

Microdosing CBD: A Beginner’s Guide

Microdosing has become something of a buzzword over the last few years and while many people associate it with psychedelics, this method of dosing is also becoming popular among cannabis and hemp communities.

What is CBD Microdosing?

Many people are so used to taking medication once or twice a day that it becomes their default treatment plan. But when you think about it, taking one or two doses of anything per day will involve a peak (or two) where you experience ultimate symptom relief and then a much larger period in which it is wearing off or has worn off completely.

However, microdosing works on the principle that lower, more consistent doses could offer much better and more consistent symptom relief for those that are seeking it.

How do you Microdose CBD?

Many people choose to microdose CBD with an oil or tincture placed under the tongue, or by smoking or vaping it, simply because it’s easier to ingest small amounts on a regular basis.

If you want to microdose orally, with edibles or capsules, then you just need to be aware that the effects will be more subject to change. For example, how recently you’ve eaten will affect how long the effects take to come on.

Having said that, CBD oil microdosing can be quite tricky as you may have to try to work out how much CBD is in each single drop of oil.

In order to switch your daily dose of CBD to a microdosing method, you just need to split your daily dose into smaller increments. So, if you currently take 20mg of CBD per day, to improve your mood and focus, then you can simply split this 20mg into five or so smaller doses, taking it gradually throughout the course of your day.

For example, you could take 4mg x 5 doses at 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm, and 8pm.

If you want to try microdosing for chronic pain and usually take 20mg every four to six hours, but are looking for more consistent relief, then you could try microdosing with 5mg every hour. CBD has a great safety profile, so you don’t have to worry about overdosing on it, although do bear in mind that more isn’t always better. If you take too much CBD isolate you can even reduce the effects you feel.

We recommended that you keep a diary or journal when you start microdosing CBD, simply to keep a note of how you feel throughout the day, in relation to the symptoms you’re trying to relieve or feelings you’re hoping to achieve.

This way, you can make slight adjustments to the amounts you’re taking until you hit upon your CBD sweet spot, the most effective dose for you. If you find that you’re not reaching the symptom relief you want, then you could try very slightly larger doses. If you’re feeling great, you could even try reducing the amount of CBD you’re taking.

What are the Benefits of Microdosing CBD?

More Long-Lasting Effects

As mentioned previously, one of the main benefits of microdosing CBD is that you can enjoy the therapeutic effects of CBD throughout your entire day.

Empowering Your Endocannabinoid System

By feeding your body a steady stream of phytocannabinoids, it’s also hoped that your body will start producing more endocannabinoids of its own over time.

Consistent Effects

The results you experience from microdosing will be a lot more consistent throughout the course of your day, rather than taking one single dose in the morning and then the effects wearing off throughout the day.

More Gentle, Subtle Effects

Microdosing CBD also allows you to experience much gentler effects of CBD, making it a great dosing method for beginners.
