My intro to AirVape
Having lived, breathed, and worked in the CBD and cannabis industry for over a decade, I’ve had the opportunity to try a LOT of vaping devices over the years. And as a huge fan of CBD flower, I’m always up for trying out new dry herb vaporizers on the market.
I met someone with an AirVape X recently and I was really impressed by the tiny little device, so I contacted the company to see if they’d let me conduct a full and honest AirVape X review for CBD Incubator.
Luckily for me they took me up on the offer, so keep reading to find out what I thought of the X.
AirVape X Review (Royal Blue edition)
When you look at the specs of the AirVape X vaporizer, it looks as if it’s aiming to compete with fairly high performance, portable vaporizers on the market, but at a fraction of the price of some other models. I wondered, is it really as impressive as it sounds?

Who is this product for?
This slimline, pocket-sized vape will be perfect for people looking for a compact portable vaporizer that they can take with them wherever they go. Its highly portable nature means that it doesn’t have the best battery life, so it may be more suitable for light to medium vapers.
Having said that, heavier users will be pleased to know that you can use the device while charging and that it offers easy and fast charging via USB.
The combo nature of the device also makes it ideal for flower and concentrate enthusiasts alike and its ease-of-use and low price point makes it a fantastic option for vaping newbies.

Overview of features
The AirVape X offers incredible power and performance for such a small device, not to mention such an affordable price. It does everything you would want a portable vaporizer to do with a well-executed, stylish design to boot. Let’s take a closer look at some of the great features the X has to offer.
- Combo vape for dry herb and concentrates
They say variety is the spice of life and, when it comes to consuming cannabis and hemp, I have to agree. Sometimes I prefer to vape freshly ground flower for a flavor explosion. Other times I want something a little more potent so I’ll turn to a CBD wax, crumble, or live rosin.
In the past you’d need two separate devices to accommodate these two very different vaping options, but not anymore, as the AirVape X does both jobs in one! Simply load your loose flower directly into the chamber or add the insert provided before loading up with concentrates.
- Super compact design and free carrying case
The AirVape X is totally pocket-friendly, measuring just 4.1”L x 1.85”W x 0.48”H and weighing just 3.2 ounces, you can take it anywhere.
The X Shell that comes with the AirVape X is the free carrying case that will help you get your device from point A to B safely and discreetly as it makes your vape smell proof and water resistant.
It fits the device tightly, so it doesn’t take anything away from its compact, slimline design, but it also doesn’t accommodate any of the accessories that come with the X.
- Magnetically closing lid
The AirVape X features a very strong magnetically closing lid so once you’ve loaded the chamber the lid gets suckered back into place and you’re ready to go.
- USB-C charging
You can charge the AirVape X with a USB-C charging cable, which is super convenient as it means you don’t have to carry around a proprietary cable with you and plug it into a wall plug. Instead, you can charge it with any USB-C charging cable, through a charging block, laptop, your vehicle, and/or a portable charging bank if you have one.
The device also charges fairly quickly (in under an hour) and, unlike many other vaporizers, you can actually use the X while it’s charging, which is a huge bonus.
- Fast heating and vibration alert
Another great feature of the AirVape X is that it heats up surprisingly quickly. Other AirVape X reviews I’ve read say that the device takes around 20 seconds to heat up to “optimal level”, but maybe they’re just going off the information on the website, because I’ve timed it and it takes more like 40 seconds. That’s to reach 356F anyway, which is widely considered to be the “optimum temperature” for dry flower.
But 40 seconds is still incredibly fast in my books, especially against other vapes I’ve tried in this price range. Once the device has reached your desired temperature, then it also vibrates in your hand to let you know it’s ready. Despite this handy feature though, I still find myself staring at the LCD screen watching the numbers whizz up!
- Onboard, precise temperature settings
You can also set the AirVape X’s temperature precisely where you want it. depending on what you’re vaping (flower, crumble, or wax). And you don’t need a smartphone app to do it either, as it features onboard temperature controls on the front of the device.
The AirVape X can hold a steady temperature anywhere between 200F to 428F, covering all of your vaping temperature needs.
- Automatic shut-off safety timer
The X has an auto shut-off safety feature that will kick in after three minutes of session smoking or after one minute of inactivity.
This is an awesome safety feature to have on a vaporizer and will help save you product and battery life when you get distracted.
- Easy to use, three button operation
- Comes apart for easy cleaning
This device is really easy to clean too as it breaks down into smaller pieces. The magnetic mouthpiece comes apart, so that you can soak the pieces in isopropyl alcohol. Then just brush out the chamber (with the brush provided) before taking an alcohol-dipped cotton swab to wipe it out.
As with all vaporizers, the more often you clean your vaping device, the easier and quicker it will be.
Airvape X vs Pax 3
If you are trying to decide between an AirVape X and a Pax 3, then let us help by highlighting the main differences between the two devices.
- Battery life – at 3500mAh, the Pax 3 has a larger battery which should last for 8 to 10 sessions vs the AirVape X’s 1300mAh battery which will only last for approximately 5 to 7 sessions
- Charging – unlike the Pax 3, the AirVape X uses a universal charger and the device can be used while it’s charging
- Ease-of-use – the X’s temperature controls are onboard the device whereas you’ll need a bluetooth app to operate the Pax 3 (and Apple have now banned all vaping apps)
- Quality – the Airvape X has a superior build with a ceramic mouthpiece (Pax 3 has silicon) and a ceramic chamber (Pax 3 has metal)
- Price – the AirVape X is more affordable than the Pax 3 (more than $100 less) and also comes with a lifetime warranty
So, apart from the battery life, the AirVape X is a better device all round and it’s considerably kinder to your wallet too.
How to use the AirVape X
Once you’ve loaded the AirVape X with your ground up flower (or concentrate insert plus concentrate), you just need to snap the lid back on and press the power button three times.
Adjust the temperature as needed and then wait until the device vibrates to let you know it’s ready.
Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and take a long, steady draw. Peak vapor clouds usually start within one minute of heating.

Conclusion
The AirVape X is an exceptional vaporizer in its price range as it performs just as well as many of the more expensive models out there. We don’t quite understand how AirVape has managed to produce such a sleek, compact device that offers great vapor quality through hybrid heating and super fast heat up times, all for under $150.
It is an ideal choice for beginners due to the fact it’s easy to use and super affordable. However, experienced users will also love the high-tech performance and feature-packed experience it offers. The slim design and ultra-portable size does mean that you don’t get the best battery life, but you can charge it in your vehicle while you’re out running errands and you can still use it while it’s charging.
I love it, but I do wish that the case accommodated the charging cable or at the very least a loading or packing tool.
