Genetic Lineage of Cannatonic CBD
The Cannatonic cannabis strain has been a firm favorite among medicinal marijuana users for years and the hemp flower version of this relaxing strain (less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC) is proving to be just as popular.
Cannatonic is an indica dominant hybrid with top-shelf parentage, brought to us from Spanish company, Resin Seeds. It’s a cross between the highly potent, indica-dominant G13 Haze (male) and the award-winning, fully-fledged indica strain MK Ultra (female).
G13 Haze was bred specifically for potency and MK Ultra is revered for its meditative effects, due to its ability to ease away tension and lighten the head. The resulting Cannatonic phenotype is a high-CBD strain that displays the best of both its parents.
Rumor has it that Cannatonic is responsible for starting the CBD movement in Europe. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know, but what I do know is that it’s won multiple awards around the globe and if you use CBD flower for symptom relief, then you should definitely give this strain a try.
Cannatonic CBD Flower Strain Review
It’s not unusual for the Cannatonic cannabis strain to contain up to 17% CBD and around 7% Delta-9 THC. But in order for Cannatonic to be considered to be a hemp flower strain, the Delta-9 THC levels need to be 0.3% or less.
Before you buy Cannatonic CBD flower, you should verify that the CBD and THC percentages are as advertised, by checking the vendor’s third-party lab reports online. If the vendor can’t provide you with third-party lab results, then look elsewhere, as any reputable vendor will make these reports easily available.
However, please note that the total Delta-9 THC is different from the total THC. Total THC can be slightly higher than 0.3% since it also includes other types of THC, including Delta-8 THC.

Effects
As mentioned, Cannatonic is mostly chosen by cannabis and hemp smokers for its potent symptom-relieving effects. It is often used to treat pain, muscle spasms, anxiety, migraines, and more.
Smoking Cannatonic lifts your mood and leaves you feeling optimistic and relaxed without extra energy, making it the perfect strain for when you want to unwind and destress the mind, while relaxing the body to the max.
Cannatonic was designed for medicinal purposes and further crosses of Cannatonic have also been developed since in an attempt to address more specific symptom relief (Remedy, for example, was developed specifically for pain management).
As a result, Cannatonic is not going to be very popular among those looking for the tastiest smoke or most enjoyable user experience. It is mainly used to alleviate the symptoms of a variety of medical conditions.
Common use cases for Cannatonic are;
- Anxiety
- Pain
- Depression
- Insomnia
- Inflammation
- Stress
- Muscles spasms

Flavor Profile
If I’m honest, Cannatonic’s flavor profile won’t get anyone shouting from the rooftops. Most of Cannatonics’ selling points are centered around its effects as opposed to the plant’s aromatics.
Having said that, however, Cannatonic is a nice, smooth tasting hemp flower, leaving a tangy sweetness of fresh pine and sour citrus on your tongue.
Dominant terpenes:
- Myrcene
- Caryophyllene
- Pinene
- Linalool
Aroma
The aroma of Cannatonic is pleasant but not overwhelming. Her aroma is mostly earthy and woody (like her G13 daddy), with a hint of orange citrus.
Visuals
The Cannatonic plant has dense colas, meaning the resulting buds are packed tight and will weigh heavy on the scales. The buds are forest green with flecks of yellow in color, they have vivid russet hairs and are fairly chunky in size.

The Cannatonic hemp flower strain is known as being quite a fussy flower to cultivate, so the best results you’ll see will almost definitely come from an indoor grow if you can find one.

WNC
WNC** Unfortunately, our friends over at WNC just ran out of an awesome batch of Cannatonic #3, but there are a few Cannatonic crosses around at the moment that I recommend you check out.
Cannaflower’s aptly named Remedy was bred by the same team that were responsible for Cannatonic in the first place, from a Cannatonic mother and an Indica Afghan Skunk father. Like Cannatonic, it was cultivated for its therapeutic properties, but in this case, to specifically help users manage symptoms of chronic pain. It weighs in with around 13% CBD and offer an enjoyable, mellow smoke with notes of pine and lemon.

UPDATE 8/24/22: Tweedle just got new batches of Royal Kush and Harlequin with 17.6% cannabinoids apiece. Get it while it’s hot! Just saw that they’re also stocking Remedy with 12% CBD.
Tweedle Farms currently has three different Cannatonic crosses on offer. You can choose between Hawking Kush, Royal Kush, or Harlequin, all of which are more aromatic and gassy than their original Cannatonic mother.
Tweedle Farms doesn’t always have the most potent strains (these all measure in around the 8% mark), but they’re always top quality and a pleasure to smoke. Plus, they have the best prices around, so it really can’t hurt to try all three.
