What is Delta 6a10a THC and how does it feel

Yet another THC cannabinoid

By now, most of us have heard of THC and CBD and you may also be clued in on the differences between Delta 8 and Delta 9, but now there’s a new THC player in town called Delta 6a10a.

Stick with us we learn more about Delta 6a10a THC, including the effects it has on your mind and body and compare it to other forms of THC to help you know what to expect from it.

What is Delta 6a10a THC?

Delta 6a10a THC is one of over 140 naturally occurring cannabinoids that can be found in both industrial hemp and cannabis plants. It is often referred to as Delta 3 THC because it is the third isomeric form of THC (out of seven known natural forms), with a double bond between the third and fourth carbon chain.

Like other forms of THC, Delta 6a10a contains 21 carbon atoms, 30 hydrogen atoms, and 2 oxygen atoms, but due to a slight structural change in the arrangement of atoms (in the placement of the double bond), these compounds may effect you differently, as well as offer different benefits. CBD also has the same chemical formula as THC, but CBD possesses a more contrasting arrangement of atoms.

How is Delta 6a10a THC made?

Delta 6a10a THC can be extracted from hemp through distillation or isomerization. It is a naturally occurring cannabinoid but it only exists in the plant in very small amounts which means Delta 6a10a is usually manufactured in a lab from other, more plentiful cannabinoids (like CBD), through a process of isomerization.

Isomerization is a chemical process that can change the chemical structure of one molecule into something similar. The Delta 6a10a available on the market today would be considered semi-synthetic due to the fact that it is usually converted from CBD in a lab.

Research on Delta 6a10a THC

Research into Delta 6a10a THC is extremely limited and dated. Back in the 1950s, a study using a fully synthetic Delta 6a10a compound found that it displayed anticonvulsant properties similar to CBD and other forms of THC.

Although it’s not backed by research, it is widely thought that due to its chemical similarities to Delta 9 THC, it may also possess other similar therapeutic benefits. Both Delta 8 and Delta 9 have shown effectiveness in reducing nausea, stimulating appetite, and relieving pain, so further research may one day prove that Delta 6a10a (or Delta 3) also possesses these properties.

Delta 6a10a THC Effects

Due to the lack of research, what we know about the effects of Delta 6a10a is purely anecdotal at this point. Most users report an uplifting but clear-headed sensation overall. It appears to reduce anxiety and offer greater confidence and optimism than usual.

It has also been compared to Delta 8 in terms of the physical sensations and mental euphoria, but most users comment that it is less potent than Delta 8.

Does Delta 6a10a THC get you high?

Depending on your overall tolerance level to THC, Delta 6a10a could make you feel high. According to reports, a dosage of at least 8mg is needed for this compounds effects to be felt, but only those with a low tolerance level are likely to feel its effect at these doses.

Delta 6a10a vs Delta 8

The easiest way to understand the differences between Delta 6a10a and Delta 8 THC is to call Delta 6a10a by its other name, Delta 3. The two compounds have an almost identical chemical structure, but Delta 3 features a double bond between the third and fourth carbon chain and Delta 8 features this double bond between its eighth and ninth carbon chain.

Delta 6a10a is said to have very similar but much weaker effects than Delta 8.

Delta 6a10a THC vs CBD

While Delta 6a10a and CBD share the same chemical formula, their arrangements of atoms is quite different, causing them to interact with the body in very different ways. Based on what we know about other THC isomers, it is likely that Delta 6a10a has an affinity for CB1 receptors in the brain, causing mild intoxication.

CBD, on the other hand, doesn’t bind to cannabinoid receptors in your brain and therefore can’t cause any intoxication. But that’s not to say that CBD isn’t psychoactive as it can cause subtle shifts in your mood and perception by interacting with other receptors in your brain, but it does so without impairing your judgement or motor skills.

Learn about Delta 10 THC

Yes, provided that Delta 6a10a is derived from industrial hemp, it is federally legal under the 2018 Hemp Farming Act. However, some states have outlawed all isomers of THC under local state law, so you should check our list here, to find out if Delta 6a10a is legal in your state.

The likelihood is that if Delta 8 is illegal in your state, then Delta 6a10a is too, as the state laws I’ve read tend to use wording that bans all hemp-derived tetrahydrocannabinols as opposed to just Delta 8.

Is Delta 6a10a THC safe?

With little academic research available on this compound, it’s impossible to comment upon the safety of Delta 6a10a with any certainty. However, anecdotally, there have been no health concerns or worrying side effects from users that have taken it.

Use of this compound is still experimental which you should keep in mind should you wish to try it. Always check for a third party lab report and make sure it proves the product’s purity and safety, by verifying that it has passed a number of safety checks, especially a test for residual solvents.

At this point, Delta 6a10a is only sold as a concentrate or oil, but due to popularity and demand, 3Chi do have plans to start selling vape carts containing this mildly intoxicating compound very soon.

Conclusion

Although there has been little scientific research conducted on Delta 6a10a THC, it is quickly gaining popularity through word of mouth. It is said to be weaker than Delta 8, but comes with promises of an uplifting mild body high, as well as feelings of positivity and confidence, all while keeping your feet planted firmly on the ground.

I (for one) can’t wait to try it!
