How to Vape CBD: The Full Guide to CBD Vape Oil

How to Vape CBD by Stephanie Jensen at CBD Origin

If you’re wondering the best way to use Cannabidiol (CBD), you may want to learn how to vape CBD.

Why, you may ask?

Of the many different methods to use CBD, one of the most popular and enjoyable ways is vaping CBD oil.

Not only is vaping enjoyable, but it is also actually one of the most effective ways to consume CBD.

By vaporizing CBD, the cannabinoid content enters the bloodstream directly through the lung, which bypasses the body’s digestive processes, ultimately delivering a higher bioavailability of CBD than other methods.

In addition, vaping can provide stress and anxiety relief throughout the day while serving as a great alternative to smoking cigarettes.

Although vaping CBD oil is not rocket science, some may be completely new to vape and are wondering how to vape CBD oil. Well, let’s help address those concerns.

First, let’s look at the two primary methods of vaping CBD.

TL;DR: Vaping CBD is convenient for some, but knowing how to vape CBD can be difficult for beginners.

There are various vape products out there, and it can get confusing. If you’re new, I suggest using a disposable vape pen and only buying an e-rig plus juice or cartridges if you really like CBD. I recommended products for both consumers.

My favorite product is probably the Funky Farms CBD Vape Pens. They have a wide range of flavors and use real hemp terpenes plus flavoring combined with broad spectrum THC. Their pens are ready to use right out of the box.

Choosing the Best CBD Vape

Using a CBD Vape Juice

There are two primary types of CBD vape juices: flavored e-juice and CBD additives.

Pre-Flavored Vape Juices are already flavored and ready to drip or fill the tank of your favorite device. At the same time, CBD additives can be used as an additive to your favorite non-CBD vape juice.

Either can be used in most vaporizing devices by filling your device’s tank or by “dripping,” which involves dripping drops of e-liquid directly onto the cotton wrapped around your device’s coils.

Using a CBD Vape Pen

Most CBD vape pens come packaged with a pre-configured CBD cartridge, making it quick and convenient to start vaping CBD.

You simply order a CBD Vape Pen from a trusted provider (jump to our recommended vendors list by following this link), charge the device (if it isn’t already charged), and you’re ready to go. Simple as that.

Should I Use a CBD Vape Pen or CBD Vape Juice?

Getting right to the point:

Both of these options have their pros and cons. Unless you have experience using a vaporizing device or are looking to learn something new, the easiest way to vape CBD is to use a CBD vape pen.

For experienced vape users, a CBD vape juice may be preferred because they are used to a certain experience that their device can provide them, or they prefer to mix CBD vape oil with their favorite vape juice.

On the other hand, for users new to vaping, a CBD Vape Pen provides an easy out-of-the-box solution with little to no setup.

Using a CBD vape pen is that you will need to replace the CBD cartridges more often than CBD vape juice, resulting in higher costs.

At the end of the day, it’s not a huge deal if you weigh out the pros and cons, plus the benefits of CBD you’re receiving with either decision. However, we recommend thinking over what works

best for your unique situation before you decide.

Why Shouldn’t You Vape With a CBD Tincture?

You may also see CBD tinctures for sale. Please know that you can’t use a CBD tincture to vape.

Both CBD tinctures and CBD oil (both are practically the same) are edible products that you consume through digestion – not inhalation. CBD oils and tinctures will burn your vaporizer. This can ruin your device.

Why is it imperative you don’t vape with CBD tinctures?

CBD tinctures are vape juices different because of the carrier oil. CBD tinctures are usually made with food-grade oil, such as MCT oil. CBD vape juices contain carriers that vaporize, usually either propylene glycol (PG) or vegetable glycerin (VG).

Can you ingest CBD vape oil? I’m hearing different things, which may ultimately depend on the brand. However, I would play it safe and not eat CBD vape oil.

Now that you selected the right product, you can start vaping CBD! Here’s how to get started.

Select the Right Dosage

As with all CBD products, you’ll want to know how much or little you need to take. If you need serious healing and select a light dosage, you won’t feel any effects. But if your dose is too high, you may experience some side effects.

Factors that affect the dosage you take include:

  • Age
  • Weight
  • Genetics
  • Metabolism
  • Mood
  • Diet
  • Any health conditions

Keep in mind, finding the right dosage will usually take some trial and error. As a general rule of thumb, start with 10mg/day and increase the dosage if you don’t feel any benefits. I wouldn’t take more than 30/mg a day, especially if you’re a beginner.

The potency of the CBD product you’re also taking matters. Start with a CBD potency of 100 – 250mg if you’re a beginner. If you want something stronger, opt for 1,000mg.

You may notice that dosing CBD vape is more difficult than edibles. Keep this in mind: if you’re using 100mg CBD, one puff will contain 1mg of CBD. Use this as a guide to separate your daily doses into individual puffs.

Last but not least, talk to your doctor about vaping CBD. See if they have a recommended dose.

Take Slow Draws

Once you find your dosage, you can start using CBD. Make sure you take slow draws. Hold the vapor in for a few seconds and exhale. If this is your first time using CBD vape, wait 10 minutes before taking another hit.

I suggest you vape CBD twice a day.

Let’s say you’re taking 10mg/day and the CBD vape you’re using is 500mg. Take one draw twice a day.

However, there are times when you may want to only vape once a day. For example, if you experience the worst of your symptoms in the morning, vape in the morning. Others may also want to vape throughout the day. If that’s the case, expect to use a bigger dosage.

Best CBD Vape Products

Vaping CBD isn’t as hard as it sounds! But you will want to use the best CBD products to get incredible results.

Funny Farms Granddaddy Purple CBD Vape Pen

Funny Farms Granddaddy Purple CBD Vape Pen

Funky Farms has a wide range of flavors and uses terpenoid extracts of specific hemp strains.

I chose Granddaddy Purple because it’s an Indica with sedative properties. It’s abundant in flavorful Myrcene, earthy and spicy flavor. Funky Farms makes this realistic flavor with terpenes and fruity essence.

Funky Farms also offers Pineapple Express, Fire OG, and Blue Dream if you don’t want the sedative effects.

This vape pen contains broad spectrum CBD, no THC at all. This is a disposable vape pen that’s portable and is ready to use right out of the box. You can easily find the lab results on the website.

Pros

  • Lab testing
  • Affordable
  • Multiple hemp strains

Cons

  • No information on where they source their hemp

Savage CBD Vape Juice in Fiji Melons

Savage CBD Vape Juice in Fiji Melons

I actually recommended this vape juice in another article I wrote. I just love how this brand creates its own unique flavors.

For this one, I’m recommending Fiji Melons because customers have said the flavor is fantastic. It tastes like a combination of watermelon, Fuji apples, and guava. They also make a variety of other mouth-watering flavors that you won’t find anywhere else.

Savage CBD is a very trustworthy brand. They offer lab testing on all of their products, and this CBD vape product is made with natural ingredients. Plus, they offer free shipping within the USA!

Pros

  • Lab testing
  • Free shipping
  • All-natural ingredients
  • Tastes fantastic

Cons

  • Don’t have the best return policy

Pure Kana Mint CBD Vape Pen

Pure Kana Mint CBD Vape Pen

Pure Kana has a whole line of disposable vape pens in various flavors. I chose Mint because, well, I love the taste of mint!

These disposable pens contain broad spectrum CBD and MCT oil. This improves absorption. The hemp sourced is of high quality and was grown in the USA. Keep in mind, this vape pen does contain artificial flavors.

The vape pen has 300 puffs. Pure Kana includes a lab report on the product page.

Pros

  • Hemp sourced from American farms
  • Broad spectrum CBD with MCT oil
  • Lab testing

Cons

  • Contains artificial flavors

CBDfx Pineapple Express CBD Terpene Vape Liquid

CBDfx Pineapple Express CBD Terpene Vape Liquid

I personally love CBDfx products. I actually got my stepdad something from CBDfx for his birthday! They’re a top brand in the CBD world that sells various products, including vape liquid. They sell liquid in a variety of hemp strains flavored with terpenes.

I mentioned an Indica before, so I decided to mention one of the most famous a Sativa-dominant strain: Pineapple Express! CBDfx uses terpenes that strongly imitate the Pineapple Express flavor, so it’s perfect for cannabis lovers.

Another reason why I like this liquid is CBDfx gives you potency options. You can choose a potency between 500mg and 1,000mg for this one.

CBD fx products are also affordable, and they offer different ways to save. They also offer a 60-day money-back guarantee. Their oil is compatible with different vapes. You can find the lab report on their website.

Pros

  • Zero solvents
  • CBDfx is a great company devoted to product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Lab testing
  • Tastes like Pineapple Express

Cons

  • Flavor isn’t strong

Pure Hemp CBD CBD Shatter + Terpenes

Pure Hemp CBD CBD Shatter Terpenes

I don’t often see CBD concentrate, but when I do, I get excited. I prefer to concentrate on vape juices. Even though they’re more difficult to dose and administer, they taste better.

Pure Hemp CBD uses broad spectrum CBD in a shatter formula for this concentrate. Shatter is a hard type of concentrate. Use a tool to break off a small piece of concentrate and place it on the coils of your e-rig.

Pure Hemp CBD is also a reliable brand. They use the finest hemp and use safe extraction processes. Pure Hemp CBD has also received accolades for its customer service.

My only concern is you can’t see the CBD strength. If this is important to you, I suggest choosing another Pure Hemp CBD product.

Pros

  • High-quality CBD that was extracted using safe techniques
  • Not many brands offer CBD concentrate
  • Broad spectrum CBD

Cons

  • Customers have said this company isn’t as transparent as others

FAQs

Question: How Long Do CBD Vape Effects Last?

Answer: The effects of a CBD vape only last between two and three hours, which isn’t very long. Fortunately, you do experience these effects quicker than most consumption methods.

Question: Are CBD Vapes Safe?

Answer: The biggest concern about vaping CBD and safety is that there aren’t enough studies on CBD vape – for both the benefits and risks. Because we don’t know the long-term effects, I suggest you all not vape. However, if you do, you’re doing so at your own risk.

Question: Is CBD Safe?

Answer: What if you don’t want to vape? Is CBD still considered safe if you digest it or apply it topically? CBD is generally considered safe. However, it does come with mild side effects. The two most common ones include fatigue and diarrhea.

The other problem is that CBD may interact with certain medications and worsen any side effects. Please talk to your doctor about whether or not CBD is right for you.

Question: Is CBD Legal?

Answer: CBD is legal as long as it contains less than 0.3% THC. Keep in mind, your state may have additional restrictions on CBD.

Question: Will CBD Show up on a Drug Test?

Answer: No, because CBD isn’t psychoactive. However, THC does show up on a drug test. If you’re concerned about this, don’t use full-spectrum CBD, which contains small traces of THC.

Question: Does CBD Make You High?

Answer: CBD doesn’t give you the same high that marijuana provides. However, it may be common to feel calm. Again, this is a mild sensation, and it’s overly euphoric.

Question: Is CBD Addictive?

Answer: Because CBD doesn’t get you high, it’s considered non-addictive. However, you can get dependent on CBD.
