Kroger will sell CBD at over 940 locations by Ryan Tengco at CBD Origin
Hot on the heels of last month’s FDA hearing on the regulation of Cannabidiol (CBD) products, Kroger announced that CBD topical products will be available at nearly 1,000 stores across 17 states by the end of June 2019.
With over 3,000 locations across the nation, Kroger is the largest supermarket chain in the United States and serves millions of Americans every year.
By entering the rapidly growing CBD market, Kroger will join other major retailers, including CVC, GNC, Rite Aid, Vitamin Shoppe, Walgreens and Macy’s, who have already stocked their shelves with hemp-derived CBD topicals in response to rising demands by customers.
With market competition in the grocery-space becoming increasingly aggressive, Kroger’s decision to expand its offering with various CBD products presents a lucrative opportunity for the Cincinnati-based organization.
Kroger’s Move to Sell CBD Puts Pressure on FDA
As Kroger’s plans come to fruition, its massive control of the grocery industry will stimulate a surge of CBD awareness amongst its customers and stimulate further demand from consumers.
While the FDA has yet to establish how it will regulate CBD, Kroger’s move to enter the market may force the agency to expedite its decision.
