It’s not “CBDs”. It’s CBD.

“One of the big things that has helped me…is the use of CBDs for brain injuries. That’s been incredible for me for my recovery.”

– Joseph “Bazooka Joe” Valtellini on Joe Rogan Experience #900

Joseph “Bazooka Joe” Valtellini is a former world kickboxing champion. On a recent episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast (#900), he explained how CBD oil helped him with his brain injury.

It’s not a surprise at all that CBD helped Valtellini because CBD oil has been shown to be an effective fighter of inflammation

CBD has the added benefit of not being intoxicating like THC.

In addition to research showing CBD to be a strong anti-inflammatory agent, other conditions CBD may help include:

  • Pain relief
  • Reduction of nausea
  • Appetite improvement
  • Reduction of insomnia
  • Decrease of stress and anxiety

Valtellini’s doctors prescribed him tons of painkillers and muscle relaxants.

He was forced to take all that crap just to deal with his pain.

But once he started taking some CBD oil under his tongue every day, he was able to cut out all the nasty painkillers and pills.

On top of helping with inflammation, the CBD oil helped Valtellini with two essential components of recovery: rest and diet.

The CBD oil helped him sleep and increased his appetite so that he could get more nutrition into his body.

At the time of the interview on Rogan’s podcast, Valtellini had already recovered from his brain injury.

But he was still getting headaches from time to time. This is common for brain injuries.

Valtellini continues to take the CBD oil when he gets a headache because he says it helps with the pain.

It’s Not “CBDs” — It’s CBD

I was really happy to hear Valtellini talk about how CBD oil helped him recover with his brain injury.

The more awareness that gets out there about the benefits of CBD oil, the better.

There’s still far too many people out there who could benefit from CBD who don’t know about it.

I noticed that Valtellini and many others incorrectly refer to CBD oil as “CBDs”. It’s a simple mistake and I am not trying to be nit-picky here.

Discover: Cannaflower CBD

I think a clarification is needed because there may be some confusion about what CBD is.

CBD is one of 104 different cannabinoids that have been identified in the cannabis plant.

Alongside THC, CBD is one of the most abundant cannabinoids found in cannabis.

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds which are found naturally in cannabis plants.

Cannabinoids act on cannabinoid receptors in our bodies. CBD is just one of over a hundred unique cannabinoids in cannabis plants.

CBD and THC happen to be the most abundant cannabinoids with the most studied health benefits.

That’s why they get most of the attention. I think the confusion with the term “CBDs” is that people may be using this term to refer to “cannabinoids” in general, as opposed to just the single cannabinoid: CBD.

And it’s true that when you take a full plant extract CBD oil, you are getting more than just CBD.

A full plant extract CBD oil contains additional minor cannabinoids like CBG and CBC, terpenes, and flavonoids.

All of these components work together to produce the Entourage Effect. I might be wrong about this whole “CBDs” terminology thing.

This is just my theory and motivation to clear up an all too often confusing topic.

Either way, other cannabinoids besides CBD are worth learning about.

CBD and THC’s Friends: the Other Cannabinoids (the “CBDs”)

A high quality CBD hemp oil will contain a lot of other cannabinoids in addition to CBD.

These cannabinoids include: THC, THCV, CBDV, CBG, CBC, CBN, THCA, CBDA, and CBGA.

That’s a heck of a lot of cannabinoids! And all of them have unique properties.

It’s good to take them all together because they’re thought to synergistically work together (Entourage Effect).

Each of the cannabinoids have their own unique properties and benefits.

This is a helpful chart for you to see all the benefits of the cannabinoids.

Some highlights and examples of the benefits of cannabinoids other than CBD:

– THCV has shown to be antiepileptic and act as a bone-simulant. Because of THCV’s possible benefits for bones, it’s being studied for how it can help with osteoporosis.

– CBG (cannabigerol) is being studied for its action as an antibacterial agent and bone-stimulant. Like CBD, CBG is also non-psychoactive. Other notable aspects of CBG are its antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties.

– CBC (cannabichromene) has antimicrobial and analgesic (pain relief) properties. CBC is a non-psychoactive. One study has suggested CBD may even aid in brain development.

As you can see, there’s more to using CBD oil than just the CBD.

All of those other cannabinoids like CBG and CBC are in there and working hard to keep you healthy.

Whether or not people are referring to all cannabinoids in general when they say “CBDs” or just incorrectly referring to CBD itself, it’s important that you know that there are many more cannabinoids than just CBD.

Don’t get us wrong. CBD is a very important and significant cannabinoid.

We’re sure you noticed that it tops the charts for having the most researched benefits.

CBD is the most abundant cannabinoid found in CBD hemp oil. This is especially true for the high CBD strains of hemp which some cannabis farmers grow.

The farmers who want to produce the highest quality CBD hemp oil grow special strains of hemp just for their high CBD content.

Those farmers aren’t using those hemp plants for rope or fiber — just for CBD hemp oil.

The high quality CBD hemp oil those farmers produce contain a collection of beneficial cannabinoids (like CBG, CBN, and CBC) in addition to CBD.

Most CBD hemp oil products, unless otherwise specified, contain a small amount of THC (legally no more than 0.3%).

The presence of this small amount of THC is a good thing — it promotes the Entourage Effect.
