For the first time in history, Hopper Labs designed a vaporizer that came into fruition through crowdfunding. The device is known as the Grasshopper vaporizer. The company took a while to get where they are today, as the initial crowdfunding backers waited for over a year and a half to get their gadgets. There was ideally a pre-order period back in 2015 and 2016, where a person had to wait for up to 6 months. However, things today are pretty smooth as they ship on demand with no pre-ordering.
One of the things that will surprise you with the Grasshopper Vaporizer is how quick it heats up. With just a few seconds after turning it on, you will see a blue LED showing that it is ready to go. This makes it one of the few battery-powered vapes that will get you into session pretty fast. Another thing that you will notice is that it features a spinning dial on the back end, which allows you to adjust the temperature from 266 °F 410 °F or 130 °C 210 °C.

The Grasshopper vaporizer is without a doubt one of the smallest discrete units out there. It is smaller than the famous Pax 3 and mimics the look of a pen. If I had to choose personally between the Grasshopper and the Pax 2 I would most likely choose the Grasshopper, if I didnt mind waiting. Otherwise, I would choose the Pax 2 if I needed the unit now.
Even though I feel that the Grasshopper is far more unique and overall is a better portable unit, at the moment you would have to wait 4 months or more before you receive your product.
The Vapor Paths, Heating Elements, And The Chambers
The chamber on the Grasshopper used a 3d-printed metal which is known as direct-metal laser-sintering. This allows for a very compact unit while at the same time maximizing of the chamber efficiency. The Grasshopper comes with a 45-watt heater that can reach temperatures up to 410 degrees Fahrenheit in around 5 seconds. It also comes with a vapor path made from stainless steel.
The Pax 2 comes with a stainless steel chamber and vapor path. The Pax 2 features a heating element made up from a thin film of Kapton heater flex. The standard heating times range from 50 to 70 seconds which will depend on the packing style, environment, herbs, and the starting temperature.
The standout difference between these units would be the draw-resistance. The Pax 2 has a lot more resistance when compared to the Grasshopper which I believe is a model that is the most free-flowing dry-herb vapes currently available.
