First, let’s get down to basics. What is vaping, and why do so many prefer it? Vaping refers to the process by which an oil, in our case CBD oil, is heated, or vaporized, and then inhaled through a vape pen or vaporizer. Our customers enjoy CBD in vape form for various reasons. Many feel vaping provides the purest form of CBD, allowing for the best resulting effects.
We know that many of our customers prefer vape pens over other CBD products, but why? It’s important to understand that not all CBD products will affect your body in the same way. Edible and oral CBD products, for example, go through a phenomenon known as the “first-pass effect”.2
When a compound, such as CBD, enters your stomach it passes through the liver. During the process, the liver actually reduces the potency and amount of CBD via absorption or break down from liver enzymes. CBD is hydrophobic, so it doesn’t appreciate water. As a result, it doesn’t stay in the bloodstream long before fatty tissues absorb it. Why is this bad? It means that this form of administration is less “bioactive” meaning that less CBD is available to enter your circulation system.
Now, if you love CBD edibles, don’t feel entirely disheartened. You can achieve your desired effects through products like CBD oil and gummies. You may just need to eat several gummies, to ensure enough CBD is absorbed into your system, and it may take a little longer to feel the CBD working in your body.
