CBG For Skin Care: How To Use CBG Oil Topically

Opinion by Jake Crossman

Your skin is the largest and one of the most critical organs in the organ system. It is responsible for protecting your body from the harshness of the outside world – so why wouldn’t you want to take care of your skin? In this blog, we will cover CBG for skincare, and how to use CBG oil topically. CBG might be able to act in place of some more modern skin treatments that are typically scams, to begin with.

The use of oil to cover your skin and moisturize and protect goes back to ancient Greece when ancient Greeks used to cover themselves in different kinds of oils to protect their skin from the sun.  For thousands of years, humans used natural substances from the earth to cover the number one organ in our bodies – the skin. You realize pretty quickly that if your skin is not taken care of then your body will not look or feel the best. Sunburn, rashes, cuts, scrapes, etc, all happen on the surface level of our bodies and it is our job to protect our skin as best we can since it protects the inside of us.

Let’s take a look at how the emerging market of cannabinoid oils and lotions can help our skin be the healthiest it can be while simultaneously helping the rest of our bodies as well.

CBG For Skin Care: What Is CBG

Cannabigerol, or CBG oil, is considered by many scientists to be the “stem cell” of all cannabinoids. A cannabinoid is a product that has been extracted from the hemp plant. To date, there are over 120 different cannabinoids that can be extracted from hemp plants through a variety of processes. All of these cannabinoids serve a different purpose in one way or another but the most common and potent are CBD, CBG, and THC.

CBG is the very first cannabinoid that shows up in a hemp plant, this is why it is the “stem cell” of all cannabinoids because they all branch off of CBG. This makes CBG one of the most expensive cannabinoids to purchase because it is very hard to extract since it comes from sapling hemp plants, and it is very potent.

CBG is non-psychotropic, meaning that unlike THC it will not get you high, or cause hallucinatory effects. You will only feel the healing effects that CBG has to offer, this is another reason this specific cannabinoid is becoming very lucrative in the hemp space.

CBG has hundreds of different kinds of healing properties but some of the most common are

  • Inflammation Relief
  • Chronic Pain Relief
  • Anti-Anxiety Relief
  • Mood/Energy Boosting

These are just some of the most immediately noticeable effects that CBG has to offer however as the research continues on this incredible hemp extract so do the benefits. Now, let’s dive into how CBG can not only benefit your physical and mental health but how it can take care of your skin.

CBG For Skin Care: How CBG Helps Your Skin

The main benefit of putting CBG oil on your skin is reduced inflammation and increased skin protection barriers.

“CBG possesses a broad range of anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and skin protecting properties to help slow inflammation, aging, and boost skin barrier function (practicaldermatology).”

This study goes on to discuss how in a controlled group of 20 people both male and female, all 20 participants reported reduced inflammation, redness, and increased skin-barrier protection. These studies were then published in a medical journal on CBG and the effects it has on human skin.

The reason that anti-oxidant properties in CBG are important is because it can protect your skin not only from harsh toxins that you are exposed to everyday but it actually increases the level of protection your skin cells have against skin related diseases. It also specifically targets and boosts the things in our skin that make it healthy and younger looking.

“CBG and cannabidiol applied topically to a 3D human skin model demonstrates that CBG outperforms CBD, selectively targeting collagen, elastin and other key skin health and hydration genes (practicaldermatology).”

Most presumably, the most popular reason to use CBG on your skin would be the anti-aging effects that it possesses. CBG can block against UVA and UVB inflammation and aging effects. There was a study done that took two 3D human skin models and put them under certain different stressors and exposed the skin to a variety of different UV lights and toxins. What the study showed was that the skin model with the CBG on it was significantly less affected than the model without the CBG on it. This suggests that CBG can be used as a sunscreen as well as a lotion to protect the skin barrier (MDPI).

One of the things that you can do to easily cover yourself in CBG oil for at least a day or two is to take a CBG bath. This is something that I wouldn’t recommend you do everyday because you have to use almost an entire bottle of CBG oil. However, the benefits of taking a CBG bath are incredible.

When you allow your body to sit in the water and soak in all of the CBG not only will it be adding a protective layer to your skin but it will also be benefiting your internal organs as well. All of your aches and pains will subside, and you will feel completely relaxed and focused ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead for you. This can be done with CBD as well but CBG will do all that CBD can accomplish plus some. Taking a CBG bath is a great reset for your body that will also be extremely beneficial to your overall health and wellness.

CBG For Skin Care: Final Thoughts

The research and data that is being put out on hemp extracts is getting larger and larger. Scientists are starting to see the overall benefits of how cannabinoids are able to influence your health in a much more positive way than traditional pharmaceuticals.

CBG is one of those extracts that has amazing benefits and should be taken by everyone. I have written other blogs about how CBG can benefit almost every other area of your life and now the research is showing that it can benefit your body externally as well by being placed topically on your skin.

As the world of holistic medicine continues to make waves and CBG keeps progressing like it is – I will do my best to keep you updated on exactly what the best options are for taking care of yourself to be the best and healthiest version you can be.
