Does Amazon Sell CBD?

Does Amazon Sell CBD?

As of 2021, it is believed that an estimated 80% of American adults between the ages of 18 and 34 are Amazon users. Having a single marketplace for customers to find just about anything is very enticing! However, Amazon, like any corporation, has rules that must be followed, as nothing influences corporate decision making quite like the threat of being fined or sued. So, can Amazon Prime members buy CBD?

Technically, the answer to does Amazon sell CBD is no. According to Amazon, no CBD can be sold on their platform, but that’s not entirely true. Tips to buy CBD online safely.

CBD On Amazon

Is CBD Federally Legal?

Previous nationwide restrictions on the owning and selling of all cannabis-related products leave many potential CBD customers feeling anxious, and with good reason! Since the 1920s, there have been strictly upheld restrictions on both cannabis and hemp. It wasn’t until 2018 that the Farm Bill was updated to allow all hemp-derived CBD products, making CBD legal to be sold and purchased online anywhere in the United States. CBD companies that comply with these federal regulations are legal to sell CBD online from any state.

Just because CBD is federally legal, that doesn’t mean an independently owned business, such as Amazon, is required to allow the sale of CBD. The fear of lawsuits and fines has left major corporations, like Amazon, Google, Facebook, and Apple, in a bit of a predicament. Because they aren’t confident in the legality of CBD regulations (as there are no such regulations), they have all opted out of blatant CBD sales – but that doesn’t mean they haven’t also built-in ways for customers to purchase CBD via a different channel.

How To Buy CBD On Amazon

Amazon has been adamant about its refusal to sell CBD on its website since the beginning.

What’s odd is that Amazon does allow for the sale of Hemp Extract. While we’re talking about it, so does Google, Apple, Facebook, and every other major company. So what does that mean?

Firstly, these corporations lack an understanding of the hemp marketplace in its entirety. Hemp Extract is simply an extract of hemp… makes sense, right?

Now, what is CBD?

CBD is a natural extract of hemp. So, if you remember the transitive property from high school math, (If A = B and B = C, then A = C), that means CBD is Hemp Extract – and vice versa.

To clarify, while Amazon does not allow for the sale of products with CBD branding, they do allow for the sale of products with Hemp Extract branding. Why doesn’t CBD work for me?

That means, if you search “Hemp Extract” on Amazon, you will get a slew of results, many of which are incredibly (and unbelievably) inexpensive and claim to be shockingly potent.

The problem with Amazon not allowing for the sale of CBD and not regulating the Hemp Extract category is the lack of transparency and honesty among “hemp extract” brands on Amazon – selling untested, non-organic, potentially dangerous hemp oil for less than the price of a cup of coffee.

Is Amazon Hemp Extract Safe

Our opinion regarding the safety of Amazon’s many different hemp extract brands leaves us worried. We have analyzed some of the top-rated “hemp extract” oils on Amazon and have major concerns regarding the potency, purity, and overall safety of the cheap hemp extract oils – as we know for a fact that Amazon does not require any of its selling partners to submit lab tests to prove their products are real – they also don’t require proof to claim a product is organic, pesticide-free, GMO-free, or even vegan!

So how can you buy safe Hemp Extract oil on Amazon? Well, the FDA still has yet to issue official regulations for CBD brands to follow, other than being hemp-derived, and this has caused the market to become saturated with incredibly low-quality CBD. With there being over 10,000 results for hemp-related products on Amazon, here are a few things you can do to verify whether or not a hemp extract company is selling quality CBD:

  • Check the ingredients list. It should be short and all-natural. Take note of products that only have “hemp oil” with no “hemp seed oil” as they may be selling a very weak product
  • Read the reviews, the truth always comes out in reviews. If a brand is selling a fake product, the reviews can help you to decipher that before you buy.
  • Look at the company website. Is it a real company? Do they have any real information on their website? Do they have public lab results for their products?
  • If you can’t find third-party lab results, there is no guarantee that what they say they are giving you is real.

It’s vital you watch out of common CBD oil scams on Amazon when trying to buy CBD on Amazon.
